Born in East London, Jarnie Godwin is a self taught botancial artist. She has been a teacher, a graphic designer and has also received a formal training in Architecture. These disciplines influence the work Jarnie focuses on now, combining her love of structure, vibrancy and detail, with precision and realism at its heart.
In 2025, Jarnie was awarded a RHS Gold Medal for her series of paintings dedicated to species of tulips. She is the author of the book “Vibrant Botanical Painting: The life of plants in watercolour” publsihed by The Crowood Press. Her paintings can be found in both private and public collections, inlcuding the prestigious Hunt Institute of Botanical Documentation in Pittsburgh.
