Li is a botanical artist based in Cheshire. She trained at the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh, where she graduated with distinction from the Diploma of Botanical Illustration, and was awarded the Lizzie Sanders Award for Excellence in 2025. With a particular passion for trees, Li’s work explores their life cycles through a storytelling approach, capturing growth, change, and continuity. Her practice follows a rigorous and structured process: collecting plant specimens, closely studying and dissecting each part, producing measured drawings and colour studies, and finally creating carefully composed watercolour paintings. Li works primarily in watercolour on hot-pressed paper, alongside graphite and ink.
